Join Revolutionary Spaces on Thursday, October 1, 2026 for the premiere showing of the documentary film, In Search of Phillis Wheatley Peters, at the poet’s 18th-century place of worship, the Old South Meeting House. The film screening will be followed by a panel discussion and audience Q&A featuring the film’s creator and producer, Leslie Askew, with Phillis Wheatley scholar and author David Waldstreicher and Boston Globe Managing Editor for Culture, Talent, and Development, Jeneé Osterheldt.

Featuring insights from leading scholars, poets, and cultural historians, the film presents Phillis not only as a foundational literary figure but as a revolutionary woman whose choices–intellectual, emotional, and political–continue to resonate today.

This program is free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of the Lowell Institute and the New England Women's Fund. Doors will open at 6:00 pm and the program will begin at 7:00 pm. Priority access is available for Revolutionary Spaces members.
